Naxos Spoken Word completes Helmet’s e-audiobook collections
In Naxos Spoken Word Library, you will find thousands of e-audiobooks. On offer are fiction and non-fiction titles mostly in English, including classics, memoirs, business literature, and language courses.
The service comprises mostly English audiobooks and radio plays as well as some French, German and Portuguese literature. There are several famous actors among the audiobook readers. You can browse the collection by category, author or reader.
How to use Naxos Spoken Word Library
You can listen to NSWL e-audiobooks in a browser on your computer, tablet or smart phone. Log in with your library card number. Choose the book you want to listen to and start listening straight away. You do not need to borrow or place holds on the books, they are all available all the time. You need to have internet access on while you are listening.
Log in to Naxos Spoken Word Library
Up to 20 users can be logged in simultaneously to Naxos Spoken Word. Unfortunately, a small portion of the titles in Naxos Spoken Word Library cannot be accessed in Finland due to copyright restrictions.
On computers we recommend using the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox or Safari browsers. The browser must also support Flash. More detailed system requirements are available in the Naxos Spoken Word Library’s FAQ section.
Naxos Spoken Word also works on mobile devices
On iOS and Android devices, you can use the service via the NSWL application which you can get from your application store. You can also download e-audiobooks to the app for listening offline. To use the apps, you need to create a personal user account. Do the following:
- Go to the Naxos Spoken World Library website.
- Log in with your Helmet library card number. Type the number without spaces.
- Click Create Student/member account link. Give the required data. You will get a confirmation by email, follow the instructions.
- Download the Naxos Spoken Word Library app to your mobile device.
- Log in to the app with the user account you created and enjoy the music.
- Remember to log out from the app when you are done with listening. The number of simultaneous users is limited.
If you have not used the app for some time, signing in may fail. In that case, you will be sent an email to the email address you chose as your user name. Follow the instructions in the email to reactivate the account.
Bookmark to continue listening later
When you have found a good e-audiobook from NSWL, you can choose to listen to the whole book (select all) or a chapter at a time. If you want to continue listening later, you can bookmark the chapter by clicking the bookmark symbol. The bookmark is set to the beginning of the chapter you were just listening to.
You can access the bookmarks you have created from the Bookmarks tab.
When you finish listening, log out from the service or close the NSWL app from your device’s cache. In this way you enable other users to log in by freeing up the license for the next user.
