Something new, something old - library service at its best

The best book I have ever read was In Darkness by Nick Lake. It tells two interlinked stories, both tragic and dramatic, that take place at different points of Haiti's history. Anyone interested in history and social problems in the modern world should love this book - although it contains scenes of graphic violence and strong language, so I recommend it to over-15s.

Our library

Tapiola Library is a library in a cultural centre. It’s surrounded by Tapiola Garden City, famous for its architecture and next to the Otaniemi Campus Area, designed by Alvar Aalto. We are among the biggest branch libraries of the Espoo City Library. We get around 1100 visitors per day, and around 2000 items are checked out each day

For our visitors, both the multifunctional, beautiful open space and the extensive, intriguing collections are valuable. We offer both face-to-face and self-service and are open from early mornings until late in the evening. In addition to our collections we organize events, courses and workshops on different topics. We follow the latest trends and developments in technology and offer our customers a change to experience and learn new things. For example in our Paja/makerspace our customers can experiment with 3D-printing and robotics.
