The new Iso Omena library to open at the Iso Omena Service Centre 11th Aug 2016
The library will accommodate approximately half of the floor space in the Service Centre. However, the library is not limited to a particular area; all the services use the shared facilities together, supporting each other.
Iso Omena library has a long tradition in cooperation with other services. Pop-up culture events, on-call social services and flu vaccination clinics have all been offered to the library customers. The emphasis on welfare continues at the Service Centre, both in events and in material.
What is the Service Centre?
The Iso Omena Service Centre is a hub of different citizen services, located at the new extension of the Iso Omena shopping centre. The Service Centre provides premises for the library, health centre, maternity and child health clinic, mental health and substance abuse clinic, Citizen Services, Kela service point, HUS laboratory and imaging services, youth services and Kohtaamo, a place for culture and arts. The Service Centre has 140 employees and the opening times are exceptionally long. For example, the maternity and child health clinic will be the only one in Espoo to open on Saturdays.
Library at the Service Centre
The library will continue to offer a diverse collection, everything from Aristotle to Pokémon - books, magazines, newspapers, music, audio books and games. Material can be found both in traditional and electronic format.
There are areas for group work as well as quite study areas. Meeting rooms can be booked by the citizens. The library also encourages creativity in Paja, where you can experiment, explore and learn. Various gadgets, like the laser cutter, 3D-printers, vinyl cutter and different tools are free to use. There is also a recording studio and a music room for the budding artists.
Near the library entrance, the Stage offers a setting for lectures, performances and events. Story hours and different clubs will continue at the new library. We encourage the customers and organisations to bring their own performances and events to the Stage and the library.
See you at the Service Centre!
