The Medici.tv video service brings culture into your home

With Medici.tv's video service, you can watch thousands of top-quality videos of concerts, operas and ballets, as well as documentaries and teaching materials.

Medici.tv contains more than 3,000 videos of concerts, operas and ballets, as well as documentaries and master classes. The music is mostly classical, but jazz is also included.

Medici.tv also broadcasts more than 150 live events each year from the world's most prestigious concert halls, festivals and competitions, in collaboration with top producers and artists. Live broadcasts can usually be viewed on the service for a period of three months.

Instructions for using the service

Log in to the service with your Helmet library card number. The service has unlimited simultaneous use and works on all digital devices with the most common, updated browsers. You can find more detailed instructions and an introduction in the Support section of the service.

You can search for videos by e.g. work title, artist, or composer, or even browse the content by genre. In the Calendar section, you can see the schedule for new content as well as upcoming live performances. The site is available in four languages: English, French, Spanish and Russian.

Additional features of the service

When logging into the service, you can also choose to create your own user account. This enables you to save your favorite videos, track viewing history and build playlists. Here are the instructions for creating your own personal account.

Medici.tv offers five different video streams that are suitable for all types of connections from 3G to fibre. The bit rate of the video is adaptive, meaning the video quality is based on the speed of your Internet connection by default. The bit rate of the sound remains constant, so the sound quality is always the best. You can manually select the video quality by clicking the gear icon in the lower right-hand corner of the player.

Some videos can offer subtitles. The subtitle languages vary by performance, but only a few are available in Finnish.
