Devices

The 3D printers can be booked via Varaamo. A 3D item costs 70 cents.

The automated check-in-machine is on the 1st floor of Oodi. Check-out-machines can be found on both the 1st and the 3rd floor.

The badge machine is on the 2nd floor. The machine can be booked via Varaamo. The material costs: 50 cents for a badge and 60 cents for a fridge magnet.

There are also eight drop-in-computers on the 1st floor of Oodi. 

A library card and a personal PIN code are needed to book and use the computers.

Oodi's Urban Workshop has a vinyl cutter for cutting stickers and textile prints. The cutter can be booked via Varaamo.

A wheelchair is available for necessary use during the library visit.

The guided tours in Oodi are organized by the Helsinki Tourist Guides, e-mail: oodi@helsinkiguides.fi . A tour lasts for an hour and costs 110€.

Library presentations for immigrants and adult groups in need of special support can be booked via Varaamo. In these presentations we offer guidance on how to use the library’s basic facilities and services.

If the work you are looking for has not been acquired by the Helmet library or the scientific libraries in the metropolitan area, it can be ordered for you as an interlibrary loan from elsewhere. 

Literature circles, where a small group of people discuss literature, are not yet in English.

On Saturdays Oodi is open from 10 am to 6 pm.

The rainbow shelf improves the discoverability and equality of LGBTQIA* material in the library. Library staff stock the rainbow shelf with materials for adults, young people and children that describe the life of sexual and gender minorities and rainbow culture mainly through positive representation. Homophobic and transphobic material does not belong on the rainbow shelf. Rainbow shelves can be found in several Helmet libraries, and all their materials can be reserved and borrowed in accordance with the Helmet rules of use. The material placed in the rainbow shelves of Helsinki City Library can be found in the Helmet database with the search word “sateenkaarihylly” (“rainbow shelf”).

Users with a print disability can register for Celia’s services and get access to more than 40 000 audiobooks online. To register for the Celia online service, please contact the library. You need to present a valid photographic proof of identity. Young people under 15 years of age must have a guarantor to register. Please note: Celia has audiobooks only in Finnish and Swedish.

You can pick up your reservations on the 3rd floor. The reservation shelves are near the escalator.

You can print A4/A3 black and white or colour prints from the library's computers or from your own device. The price is €0.40 per page. 

In Oodi open story times are held Finnish, Swedish and English.

The devices in our Urban Workshop can be used within the library. You have access to e.g. 3D printers, sewing machines, overlock machines, a vinyl cutter and a heat press. To make a reservation for any of the devices go to Varaamo.

Customers have the use of Stadinetti, a free-of-charge wireless network provided by the City of Helsinki.

Centrallibrary Oodi provides different types of workshops and library presentations for school- and kindergartengroups.

Premises

Baby care room is on the 3rd floor, near children area.

In the Children’s arena on the 3rd floor, events open to the whole family can be organised, such as story times or workshops.
In addition to the Children´s arena, events can be organised in the open area of the Children’s World.

Kino Regina on the first floor with 250 m2 of auditorium-style space is a suitable venue for lectures, film screenings and various events. By reserving Kino Regina, you agree to comply with the rules for the facility

Kuutio is located on the second floor of Oodi. Kuutio is a glass-walled space of 90 square meters. The space is currently mainly used as a meeting room and training facility. The space is equipped with two screens and projectors. Kuutio can be rented and you can check out available times slots and book the room at Varaamo.

The parking area of prams is situated on the 3rd floor in Children’s World. 
A parking area can also be found on the ground floor, where signs mark the area assigned for prams.
