Visiting Helmet libraries safely

Libraries are safe to visit during the coronavirus outbreak. Numerous measures have been implemented at libraries to ensure good hygiene and that visitors can maintain a safe distance from one another, with the aim of allowing everyone to visit libraries safely.

Libraries continue to offer a nearly normal range of services. In addition to the basic services, meaning borrowing and returning items and picking up reservations, you can also use the customer computers, print, copy and scan, read magazines and newspapers, work, study, and book meeting or groupwork rooms and various equipment.

Measures have been taken to ensure that visitors can maintain a safe distance from one another, including spreading out furniture and restricting the number of people allowed to participate in events and enter facilities.

Surfaces and keyboards are cleaned more frequently and thoroughly than before, and the customer service desks have been outfitted with plexiglass guards. Libraries also have hand sanitiser and hand washing stations available.

You should not visit a library if you are ill. It is important to take care of good hand hygiene, maintain a distance of about two metres from other customers and staff and cough and sneeze into a paper tissue or sleeve.

All libraries are complying with the National Institute for Health and Welfare’s and the Ministry of Education and Culture’s currently valid recommendations and the guidelines issued by each city. Library services may be affected by the development of the coronavirus situation and guidelines issued by the authorities. The situation may change on short notice, so we recommend checking the current status of libraries by visiting their websites or by contacting your local library directly.
