the opening of the RE/defining Masculinities programme week
The RE/defining Masculinities week opens at 17:00 on Tuesday 5.11. in Maijansali at the Central Library Oodi. The evening programme includes a small introduction to the RE/defining Masculinities project by The Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux, followed by a welcome speech by the Belgian Ambassador to Finland, Carl Peeters, and concludes with the screening of Reetta Huhtanen’s documentary film Gods of Molenbeek (2019). Gods of Molenbeek is a documentary film by the Finnish director Reetta Huhtanen, and follows the friendship between the Finnish Aatos and the Belgian Amine, two boys living in the Molenbeek district of Brussels.
This event is free and open for everyone. Please note that seating is limited, so make sure to arrive in time to ensure a good spot!
The opening event is organised by The Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux in collaboration with the Embassy of Belgium in Finland.
RE/defining Masculinities is a project that aims to present and discuss the subject of masculinities from new and cross-disciplinary perspectives, through a series of cultural events and academic discussions realised in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Finland. The project is a part of the Finnish Institute for the Benelux’s theme for 2019, which is RE/definitions. The RE/defining Masculinities project is part of the Cultural Programme for Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU.
