Myllypuro Library to be renewed

This spring, Myllypuro Library will extend its area to cover the entire premises of the former Community Centre Mylläri. The renovated Myllypuro Library that is larger, more diverse and more comfortable will open its doors in summer 2022. The renewed library will be able to respond to the needs and requests of the local community better than ever.

The library’s floor area will nearly triple and there will be more space for families with children, newspaper readers and hosting events. “We are particularly happy with the transformable spaces that can be utilised to host residents' own events, such as jumble sales. We are also planning self-service use to allow residents to access the premises even when the library staff is not present,” says project leader Anu Satukangas.

The library selected Kakadu Ltd as the interior design company in charge of the renovation. “We are excited to be part of the development of the new extended library space. We are happy to take in requests and believe that a successful result can be achieved through close cooperation, listening to the current users and keeping in mind the new user needs of the library,” says Kristiina Kaitala, Interior Architect at Kakadu Ltd.

Erja Makkula, Director of Myllypuro Library, is delighted with the renovation project: “All of us here at Myllypuro Library are so excited for the opportunity to develop our library together with the interior design company and our customers. We have set up a dream wall in the library, where anyone can post their ideas and requests for the renewing library. Let’s all work together to make this library the heart of Myllypuro!”
