Vantaa library services as of June 1
Vantaa libraries will open their services in stages as of June 1, 2020. Customers can come to the libraries to borrow and browse materials. Some of the libraries’ work and play areas will be unavailable until further notice. In addition, reserved premises, conference rooms and reading rooms will remain mostly unavailable. The service desks will be opened to customers but self-service and use of automates is still recommended. Customers are encouraged to visit for a short time in the library.
Customer computers and printers can be used restrictedly for fast transacting. the staff will not give digital counseling requiring close contact at the customer computers. For hygiene reasons, the libraries’ customer laptops and tablets are not available. In order to ensure safety distances, the number of customer computers available and seats in the newspaper reading rooms have been temporarily reduced. When required, the library staff can also limit the number of customers on the library premises.

Reservations during summer closure
You can change the pickup location or freeze your reservations for the closure, if they still remain open.
You can change or freeze your reservations by logging in your own account on Helmet.fi. The reservations that are frozen will progress in the queue only when the freeze is removed. Remember to remove the freeze after the summertime. Library employees will help you change your reservations.

Due dates of loans during the summer closure
As a general rule, the loans from libraries that will be closed in July will automatically get an extended due date. Because of reasons due to the library system, extended due date will not be possible as regards loans owned by Helsinki and Kauniainen.
You should check the due dates of your loans by logging in your own account on Helmet.fi, so that you can renew them, when required. You can also renew your loans over the phone by calling the library’s customer service. You can return your loans to any Helmet library.
The summer closures of libraries are part of the City of Vantaa’s money-saving program due to the coronavirus epidemic’s financial impacts.
Opening hours in the summer of 2020
Vantaa libraries will open on June 1, 2020 and apply summertime opening hours. For safety reasons, self-service of Point, Pähkinänrinne and Länsimäki libraries is unavailable until further notice.
The summertime opening hours are valid from June 1 to August 9, 2020. The libraries are open in the summertime on Mon-Thurs at 9:00-20:00 and on Fri at 9:00-16:00. Tikkurila and Myyrmäki libraries are open on Saturdays at 9:00-16:00. Also Lumo library is open on Saturdays on June 1-28.
Lumo, Martinlaakso and Pointti libraries will be on summer break during July, that is, from June 29 to August 2. Tikkurila, Myyrmäki, Hakunila and Koivukylä libraries will remain open in July.
Pähkinärinne library is open on June 1-18 on Wednesdays at 14:00-20:30 and on summer break on June 19-Aug. 2.
Hiekkaharju library will be on summer break from June 1 to August 12.
Länsimäki library, closed for renovation, will open on August 3.
Bookmobiles will not operate on June 1- August 2.
Please observe the following guidelines during your visit
- Practice good hand hygiene
- Maintain at least a two-metre distance from others
- Cough or sneeze into a tissue or your sleeve
- Do not come to library when you are sick
- Please take care of your transactions as quickly as possible.
