You can bring your event to the library!

Do you want to organize an event at the Sello Library? Spaces can be reserved free of charge for various lectures, workshops and other events. The stage of the Sello Library offers the opportunity to organize even larger events. The events should be free of charge and open to all. Priority will be given to cultural and social events, and functional and community events will also be prioritized. Feel free to share your own event idea and we will help you make it happen. Stage / lounge,  first floor. Stage size:  3 m x 6 m

Aula-lava.jpgA large entrance lounge and stage on the first floor may be reserved for events or fairs. 60 chairs a data projector, and wireless microphones are available.

Akseli Hall, second floor


The large 70 m2 Akseli Hall, located on the second floor, can be reserved for meetings or lectures, events etc. It seats up to 30-60 people with about 30 desks. There isa computer, dataprojector, BD-player, and a flipboard/whiteboard. It is possible to use a wireless microphone. (It is also possible to get a digital screen by asking from the first floor info.)

NB: Reservations are only for groups that contain at least 5 people.

- Free of charge for all associations and Espoo city units and housing companies in Espoo
- Other companies are charged 100 € per hour

How do I report and pay a reservation? Send the booking time, company name, or event name,  address, business ID (Y-tunnus), and email to, and you will receive the invoice home after the event.

Cultural Space, second floor


There is fiction, films, and poetry in Cultural space, as well as an area with sofas and chairs near Elina and Akseli on the second floor. Typically, book clubs, writer interviews, and knitting clubs are held there. The facility is available only for events. It is not to be reseved for a meetings. Jaminurkka, first floor


Jaminurkka is suitable for conserts and other events. Sound system and digital screen.

Makerspace, first floor


In Makerspace you can organize various functional events such as workshops or craft sessions. At Makerspace there are e.g. sewing machines, vinyl cutters and 3D-printers that can also be used at events. Tell us your ideas and ask more: / 043 8252337.

Reservation of spaces

Please be on time with event suggestions, preferably 6 weeks in advance! In this way, we ensure the presence of a technically skilled employee. Please note that the library does not guarantee that staff will be able to implement the technology for your event if it involves challenging special requests. Basic technology (microphone, data cannon) is taken care of upon agreement.

Advertising of events

Once the space is booked, be sure to market your event. Promote your event on your own networks and social media.

In addition, the library advertises open free of charge events on the library’s website and digital displays (Info-TV) at its discretion. For advertising, we need a high quality photo and a short introductory text. You can also provide us with an event poster, which we will display in the library space. Instructions for the event organizer

According to the Library Act, all events must be open, non-discriminatory and free of charge. Commercial activities and sales of companies are prohibited. Political events are possible, personal promotion of the candidate in the space and at the event is prohibited. The library may refuse to provide spaces at its discretion.

The description of events on social media is allowed, in accordance with the rules set for public space. Images / videos of children under the age of 18 must have parental permission to publish the images. If media representatives come to the venue, the library's event coordinator must be notified in advance.

On the day of the event, arrive in time to prepare. The event organizer / performer must have the appropriate permits for the visual and audio material they present.

Notify us of any cancellations and other changes as soon as possible!

General rules for using the library’s reserved space:

  1. The reserved space with its furniture shall be available to the reservation for the period specified in the contract. Any initial preparation and final cleaning should be included in the time allotted. The next reservation should be able to start when its own time begins.
  2. The library cannot hold events that charge an entry or participation fee (regarding material costs).
  3. The occupier is liable for any damage caused to the property by the occupants of the premises. Any damage must be reported immediately to the library staff.
  4. The content or nature of the event cannot be in conflict with Finnish law or contrary to good practice.
  5. If necessary and at its discretion, the Library has the right to deny access to the reservation space or to suspend the event.
