What´s going on

 The COVID-19 passport will be introduced at public events at Helmet libraries. You can visit libraries without a COVID-19 passport, and the operation of libraries will otherwise continue as usual.

Customers have gradually begun to return to Helsinki’s libraries. Library staff are reminding people that they can once again spend time in the libraries and that all the services are available.

Helmet libraries will start charging customers a fee of €1 for reservations that have not been picked up or cancelled by the last pick-up date. Reserving materials will continue to be free of charge.
The uncollected reservation fee will be introduced 1 June 2021.

Vallila library welcomes daycare and school group visits. Due to the Covid-situation we are however limiting the number of visitor groups to one at a time. You can book your visit time easily at the Varaamo booking page.

Helsinki City Library has many spaces for art shows but none is better than the one at Vallila Library. Here are some useful tips on how to host your own art show.

Libraries are quite “green” in that the basic activities consist of information retrieval, circulating the collections, as well as offering an open, public space. None of our activities are harmful to environment as such.

The open space also forms a forum that can be used for different public events. In autumn 2008, we started the Vallila spotlight events. At our themed evenings we have visiting authors and experts, and they can also include music or films for example.
