PerunaPääPaja
Have you ever wondered what to do with your favourite potato? Then read on…
On 22nd February from 10-12, Tapiola library is offering a chance for families to introduce the humble potato to the 21st century by discovering the wonders of 3D technology. Tapiola library’s customers are invited to 3D scan their family potato and learn how to alter its appearance using 3D software. Finally, the newly created potato is ready to be born into the physical or virtual world.
What I say is that, if a fellow really likes potatoes, he must be a pretty decent sort of fellow. - A. A. Milne
Like humans, potatoes are unique. No two potatoes are exactly the same. Potatoes are individual, but what they lack is character. The Perunapää Paja is intended to give these potatoes a new lease of life. More importantly though, is that the Perunapää Paja event is designed to encourage families to enjoy learning a new skill such as 3D modelling. Families can witness the entire 3D scanning process and then relax with an iPad to develop their creativity with 3D modelling. The main message of Perunapää Paja is that learning 3D technology is not difficult. It’s fun. It’s easy. It can be an introduction to many new creative possibilities.
The Perunapää Paja will be staffed by friendly, patient and knowledgeable librarians there to guide the customers with scanning, modelling, printing, and exciting augmented reality possibilities. Fun potato facts will be on display as well as the library’s potato related material for customers to read and borrow.
Duration: 20-60min per potato
